IW Youth and Junior Dinghy Championships Series finale 2025 at Brading Haven Yacht Club

The final event of the IW Youth and Junior Dinghy Championships Series took place at Brading Haven Yacht Club on Saturday. Competitors arrived to a sunny but windless harbour and wondered if there would be any racing.

Race Officer Tony Burton made a great decision to tow the fleet out to the race course in the hope that some wind would appear. After a hours wait, a gentle south-westerly set in allowing two races to be run.

Close racing between the ILCA 4s saw Bede Liszka triumph ahead of Rafe Bradley and Edward Sun. It was a match race in the Fevas with Katherine Blackhouse and Laura Bray Palmer winning the deciding second race to take first place overall ahead of Fred Rome and Henry Olesinski.

In the Tera Sports William Segars first and a second put him on top, ahead of Freddie and Jack Harrison.

It was perfect conditions for the seven Teras in Regatta Fleet. After some close racing, Rhuban Brizelden took first overall ahead of Albert Blamire and Lucy Knight.

The event concluded the IW Youth and Junior Dinghy Championships Series for 2025 following other series events at Yarmouth Sailing Club, Royal Solent Yacht Club, Gurnard Sailing Club and Royal Victoria Yacht Club. A total of 20 Isle of Wight sailors took part in the series this year across ILCA 4, ILCA 6, Feva, Tera Sport and Tera Regatta classes.
