After six days of intense competition, the 2025 ILCA Under-21 European Championships & Open European Trophy concluded today in Split, Croatia, with all 12 scheduled races completed for the ILCA 6 and ILCA 7 Gold fleets. The ILCA 7 Silver fleet concluded with 11 races, following a challenging and rewarding week of sailing.

On the final day, 10 to 14 knots of wind provided the perfect conditions for the last two races across all fleets, ensuring a dramatic and exciting conclusion to the event. With the winds cooperating and the racecourse set, the competition came down to the wire as sailors pushed themselves to secure their final positions.

2025 ILCA Under-21 European Champions Crowned

Ginevra Caracciolo ITA and Erik Norlen SWE, both overnight leaders, successfully defended their positions today to be crowned 2025 ILCA Under-21 European Champions. Throughout the competition, both sailors demonstrated exceptional consistency and resilience, mastering challenging conditions and fierce competition to claim victory in the ILCA 6 and ILCA 7 fleets.

A special shout-out goes to Italy, which dominated the ILCA 6 Women’s podium, claiming all three spots. Ginevra Caracciolo ITA took the gold, while Maria Vittoria Arseni ITA and Emma Mattivi ITA secured silver and bronze, respectively.

In the ILCA 7 Under-19 Championship, the battle for the gold medal came down to the final race. Adamantios Petrianos GRE claimed victory after a strong performance in the second race, finishing 2nd and securing the top spot overall. Karol Krupski Teterycz ESP, who had led the standings earlier in the event, finished with the silver.

After the last races concluded, all sailors returned to shore, exhausted but proud of their efforts. The event was a showcase of sailing excellence, with sailors battling through a variety of conditions, from shifting winds to strong currents. Despite the challenges, the sailors delivered incredible performances, demonstrating resilience, sportsmanship, and skill throughout the six-day event.

The event has set the stage for future sailing stars, with several standout performances from young sailors who will no doubt be ones to watch in the coming years.

As the 2025 ILCA Under-21 European Championships conclude, we'd like to extend our sincere thanks to the organizers at JK Mornar Yacht Club for hosting this incredible event. Their hard work and dedication ensured the smooth running of the competition, providing a fantastic experience for all sailors and spectators. Congratulations once again to all participants, and we look forward to seeing the next generation of sailing stars in future competitions!
