As the temperatures begin to dip and October rolls in, many of us are taking a moment to reflect on our summer afloat. But the energy doesn't stop there.
Across the country, clubs and affiliates are still making the most of on water opportunities, while university clubs are gearing up for a busy and exciting season ahead. We're looking forward to seeing all the action unfold this autumn.
We're also looking forward to connecting with clubs online via our upcoming
Connect Forum Calls where we'll be joined by a range of experts to discuss topics that matter to you and your clubs. Recently, we kicked things off by discussing how to deal with the challenge posed by abandoned boats, and the possible financial and environmental consequences.
We were joined by Dr Joe Penhaul Smith - CTO & Founding Director of Sustainable Extricko; Dr Graham Russell - RYA Scotland Planning & Environmental Officer (volunteer); and Kate Fortnam - RYA Sustainability Manager. Our next RYA Scotland Connect Forum Call will focus on uplevelling funding applications. Taking place on Tuesday 28th October - this is one not to miss. Sign up for free on Bookwhen now.
The RYA Scotland Development Team enjoy getting to work with so many top clubs across Scotland, supporting delivery of fantastic on water action. Aim to create a win-win relationship, not just a transaction or compromise, but a partnership where both sides gain real value. Your club brings plenty to the table: access to new audiences, increased visibility, and the chance to be associated with a thriving community initiative or high-performing athletes.
When starting the conversation, lead with what you're offering rather than what you're asking for. This shows you've considered their perspective and sets a positive tone from the outset. And remember, for tailored advice and support, your Regional Development Officer is on hand to help.
