The dramatic finale of the eleventh Bundesliga season on Lake Mattsee was marked by unusually high temperatures, little wind, and thus few races. Nevertheless, the championship remained exciting until the very end. Hosting the exciting event was the Mattsee Sailing Club.

Two rounds were completed on Friday, enough for the hosts from the Mattsee Sailing Club (SCM) to close the four-point deficit to the defending champions from the Burgenland Yacht Club (BYC). This set the stage for a long and dramatic sailing weekend.

The midsummer temperatures and the accompanying light winds added to the excitement. As on the opening day, sailing on Saturday and Sunday was only possible in the afternoon. An easterly wind with a generally southerly weather pattern created extremely difficult tactical conditions on all three days.

After the Rust team took deep points early on with third and fourth-place finishes, the Mattsee team crossed the finish line in the third round in a head-to-head clash, directly behind their direct title rivals, despite having led the field for most of the time. With a fourth-place finish in the fourth round, only one point remained from their comeback. Due to a lack of wind, no further races could be held on Sunday, and the BYC finished the event in third place, one point behind the SCM. The Burgenland team secured its fifth title overall, its second in a row.

SCTWV Wins Final Event

The victory at Mattsee went to the team from the TWV Achensee sailing club. The Tyroleans took three race wins, and even a fifth-place finish in the final round didn't change their success in the final. As expected, they were unable to influence the title decision, but the bronze medal went comfortably to Tyrol. The UYC Wörthersee (UYCWö) team may have messed up the season's finale with thirteenth place, but they salvaged their fourth place overall in the overall standings, two points ahead of the Bregenzer Segelclub (BSC).

The first and second leagues are now entering their winter break, with the youth and women's national leagues taking place at Mattsee over the next two weekends.
