Challenging weekend in Cadiz for Switzerland SailGP Team

The Swiss SailGP Team faced a tough test in Cadiz this weekend, battling a big sea state, unpredictable conditions, and racing with a reduced crew on board. Clean starts were critical to success, but at times proved difficult to execute in the heavy swell and persistent chop.

Saturday's opening day saw some solid racing from the Swiss, with standout moments placing them 5th overall - leaving a podium finish well within reach heading into Sunday. However, on race day two, the team struggled to find their pace and speed in the shifty conditions.

While the weekend brought its share of challenges, the team, as always, gained valuable experience to carry forward into the 2025 Season finale in Abu Dhabi next month.

Flight Controller Bryan Mettraux said: "Today's tough conditions - light wind and heavy seas - made it hard to find the right setup and execute clean manoeuvres. We also lost track of the fleet at times and made some costly mistakes. Yesterday was a bit easier with similar breeze but calmer sea state and we had some good moments - but still a few errors. It's all part of the game though, and we'll learn and move forward from here."

CEO Boet Brinkgreve said: " Yesterday we had strong starts and solid racing, but a few penalties set us back. Today was the opposite - tough starts, tricky calls, and challenging conditions. No excuses - we know where to improve and will come back stronger in Abu Dhabi. From here, the only way is up."

Cadiz marked the final stage of the European leg of Season 2025 and the focus now shifts to the Season Final in Abu Dhabi (29-30 November), where the team is determined to come back stronger and close out the season on a high.
