Netley Sailing Club RS200 Club Championship

by Terry Hunt 30 Sep 03:58 AEST 27 September 2025

Saturday 27th September saw the annual Netley SC RS200 club championships with 9 teams taking part. Sadly due to other events and illness, numbers were slightly down on last year.

12 - 18kts of breeze from the SE to SW (making things interesting) PRO, Karen Main set the fleet 5 upwind / downwind races, which offered some great racing for everyone

As with last year, one team dominated the day, with Ellen Main and her crew Alex winning all 5 races by a fair margin. Behind them though, over the course of all the races, there were plenty of place changes and mixed race results.

Notable results were in Race 4 when the youngsters came to the for, with 13year old Matthew Wilcox taking over the helm from his Dad to finish 2nd and 14 year olds Charlie Hunt and Maisie Butler-Smith finishing 3rd.

After 5 races, all were feeling a pretty broken, so it was time to retire to the bar for prize-giving and some drinks!

And a big thank you to our race officer Karen Main and her team for looking after us on the water.
