The 29er Class Association is delighted to announce that bids are now open to host our upcoming major championships.

We are inviting venues to submit proposals for the following events:

  • 2027 European Championships
  • 2028 World Championships
  • 2028 European Championships

Attached to this announcement are the comprehensive bid guidelines that outline the requirements for hosting our class events. These guidelines form the foundation of any successful bid, and we strongly encourage all interested parties to review them carefully.

A checklist is included at the end of the document. This checklist must be fully completed and submitted with the bid. Please note that any bid without a completed checklist, or missing checklist items, will not be considered.

Important notes for bidders

  • Bids may be submitted for the Worlds, the Europeans, or for both.
  • A single venue may host only one Championship.
  • Each bid must clearly designate which event(s) the venue is applying to host.
  • To obtain the Class budget guidance template, please contact Pippa Kenton-Page ().
  • Deadlines for submissions
    • 2027 Europeans: 31st October 2025
    • 2028 Worlds and Europeans: 31st December 2025

In addition, we are also seeking expressions of interest from venues considering hosting future 29er Championship events over the following four years. If your venue is exploring this possibility, now is an excellent time to begin discussions.

Next Steps

We encourage all National Class Associations and sailing organizations to share this opportunity with potential host venues in their countries.

For further details, including budget guidance, or if you have any questions, please contact Pippa Kenton-Page, email

We look forward to receiving your bids and to working together to deliver world-class sailing events for the 29er community.
