World Sailing has confirmed the dates for Fortaleza 2027 World Sailing Championships as 22-30 January 2027, with a Test Event being held one year prior.

The Test Event will be held from 24-31 January 2026 and will provide a comprehensive assessment of the venue's readiness and offer a preview of the high-stakes action to come.

Sailors, race officials, and organisers will have an opportunity to test all aspects of the championship operations. This includes trialling the race management systems, on-shore facilities and logistics ahead of the main event. For the athletes, it offers the first chance to compete on the championship courses and familiarise themselves with the consistent strong winds and warm waters for which Fortaleza is renowned.

Daniel Azevedo, President of CBVela, added, "The city of Fortaleza has a growing sailing heritage, and with ideal conditions for watersports we are looking forward to delivering an exceptional edition of the World Sailing Championships. The Test Event is a chance to fine tune the process, work with World Sailing and the athletes, and make sure everything is in place for the main event in January 2027."

The Fortaleza 2027 World Sailing Championships Test Event will feature Men's and Women's Dinghy, Men's and Women's Windsurfing, and Men's and Women's Kite events.

The Notice of Race for the Fortaleza 2027 World Sailing Championships Test Event has been published and is available to download from the World Sailing website.

Member National Authorities are encouraged to enter the Fortaleza 2027 World Sailing Championships Test Event.
