After four days of racing, the closing day of Ibiza JoySail saw the fleet tackle a 12nm, triangular course in waters to the east of Ibiza Town.

With the wind due to fill in towards the end of the afternoon, the Race Committee delayed the start to ensure a spectacular finale to four days of excellent racing for the fleet of superyachts gathered at Marina Ibiza.

There was no slacking in performance across the fleet with many of the classes tied at the top at the start of racing. So, the final podium position and lifting the prestigious silverware meant that there was everything to race for.

At the bigger end of the fleet, in the Performance Cruising XL class, the story was similar. L'Hippocampe took the win today, which meant that they were on equal points with Spiip, but today's results broke the tie and L'Hippocampe, with recent ORC Champion Jesper Raddich as tactician, winning the class overall.

The Spirit Yachts 111 Geist finished in their place, beating the Tripp 128 Cervo by just two seconds in today's final race.

With a third win today, Liberty Squared, with Bouwe Bekking as tactician and Alicia Ageno as navigator, won the Performance Cruising L class with second placed Kiboko 4 winning the Corinthian Trophy in the class. The Southern Wind also won the eponymous trophy as the best boat in class. Gelliceaux, who was competing in Ibiza JoySail for the second time, finished today's racing just 17 seconds behind Kiboko 4 to finish third, and takes third place in the overall.

As ever the Performance Cruising M was high octane with the battle between the Café Racer twin, Open Season and Ganesha, spilling into the final race of the event. But while Ganesha dominated in the match that followed the start, it was Open Season that put on the after burners and won today's race, and winning the class overall.

Open Season's helm Thomas Bscher commented after the race: "We are very happy with the week. It is very evenly matched and there is very little difference and once you get ahead you have a big advantage, and it difficult to overtake. We are very happy, we have had a great week, and we will come back!"

The other Performance Cruising M 'twins' the Y-7 yachts Shambho and Viento, also had a tight race with the Mexican-flagged Viento finishing ahead of Shambho and winning the Corinthian Trophy for the class.

However, in the Performance Class, Moat once again showed their form with four straight wins from the week, and lifting the class trophy for the fifth time in succession. Despite Jasi chasing them down, they were unable to break out of their second place and so take second place overall with Morgana completing the podium and winning the Southern Wind trophy. The Wally 143 Esense won the Corinthian Trophy for the class.
