Marina Ibiza accompanied the Club Náutico Ibiza team at the prestigious 61st Gran Día de la Vela, the Trofeo Bufete Frau, held in the Bay of Palma between 23 and 31 August and organised by Club Náutico S'Arenal.
The sixty-first edition of this key event in the Balearic sailing calendar combines sport and team spirit in a unique setting, with trials for the Optimist, 420, ILCA 4, Open IQ Foil, Techno 293, Formula Windsurf and Musto Skiff classes and a total of six hundred boats competing.
This year, more than five hundred sailors competed in the race, including twenty young and talented competitors from Club Náutico Ibiza in the Optimist and ILCA4 classes.
The Optimist Sub 11 class was the first to cast off, with nine trials taking part on 23, 24 and 25 August. Club Náutico Ibiza had four representatives (Akira Santo, Miachel Delogu, Eric Torres and Sofía Donati), who raced in a sixty-strong fleet.
In Optimist Sub 13 and Optimist Sub 16, Club Náutico Ibiza was represented by twelve sailors: Ian Maurovich, Lamis Casco, Luay Casco, Valentina Pomo, Nikola Donati, Micaela Delgado, Karla Cruz, Iris Cardona, Julen Silvera, Jiahong Chen and Gerard Ribas.
And in ILCA 4, the representatives were Marc Tur, Alejandra Lloyd, Carlota Mediero and Romeo Pomo. For these classes, races took place between 28 and 31 August.
For Marina Ibiza, playing a part in this type of event means supporting young sailors who are the future of yachting on the island.
"We're proud to see boys and girls from Ibiza competing at this level and representing the island in such an iconic regatta. Marina Ibiza always backs grassroots sport and projects that nurture the maritime culture in our community", said Dani Marí, Manager of Marina Ibiza.
With this support, Marina Ibiza has reaffirmed its role as a benchmark in the international yachting industry as a space committed to training, sport and the values of sailing.
