As the sun sets on Roy Disney's latest campaign with the V070 Pyewacket, the sailing world prepares to bid farewell to one of the most successful and storied offshore racing yachts of the modern era.
Come September 2025, Pyewacket will be race-ready and available for a new chapter—offering a rare opportunity for a new owner to inherit a legacy of excellence.
Originally launched as Telefónica for the 2011-2012 Volvo Ocean Race, this high-performance yacht quickly proved its pedigree, finishing fourth overall in one of the world's most gruelling offshore challenges, after winning the first three legs.
From there, it made its way to Australia, where she went under a major refit to become a "Turbo charged VO70 with a taller mast, deeper keel, longer bow sprit and hydraulic winch systems, an upgrade under the Black Jack banner—claiming multiple Brisbane to Gladstone victories and two top-five finishes in the Sydney to Hobart.
But it was under the stewardship of Roy Disney and the Pyewacket name—a name synonymous with offshore racing royalty—that the yacht truly flourished. Since 2019, Pyewacket has raced in a turbocharged configuration, boasting a taller Southern Spars rig, deeper keel, and extended bowsprit. These upgrades, combined with a full North Sails inventory and state-of-the-art hydraulic systems, have kept the yacht at the forefront of international competition.
The results speak for themselves:
- 2025 Antigua Sailing Week - Line Honours, Overall Winner
- 2024 Bermuda Race - Line Honours
- 2023 RORC Caribbean 600 - Line Honours & IRC Overall Winner
- 2023 Pineapple Cup - Line Honours
- 2022 Pacific Cup - Line Honours
- 2022 Puerto Vallarta - New Course Record
- 2021 Transpac Race - Line Honours
- 2021 Cabo San Lucas - Line Honours, Overall Winner, Race Record
- 2020 Puerto Vallarta - Class Winner
This is not just a yacht—it's a proven race weapon, meticulously maintained by a professional crew and built to last by the renowned King Marine. With its systems fully upgraded and its performance record unmatched, Pyewacket is poised to continue its winning tradition under new ownership.
For any serious offshore campaigner, this is a once-in-a-generation opportunity. With the right timing, the new owner could even take the helm in this year's Sydney to Hobart, as the Pyewacket team concluded their final performance in this year's Fastnet race.
The legacy is rich. The performance is proven. The future is wide open.
