Leading amphibious boat builder Smuggler Marine, has expanded its range with the release of the new 800 Super Sport.

The new 'Bowrider' style RIB joins the Centre Console and Mid Cabin models in the 8 metre amphibious range.

Derived from the very popular 780 Super Sport RIB (non-Amphibious), and catering to the water sports, diving and fishing market alike, the Super Sport's bowrider style layout provides seating for up to five in the bow area and when added to the six seats in the main cockpit, this gives the boat a remarkable 12-seat capacity, whilst still capable of being a serious blue water performer, family day boat, fishing boat, or dive tender.

"The key thing about the Super Sport configuration is that not everyone wants to walk around the side decks to go forward, and we had some of our superyacht tender clients who wanted to maximise the space available with more seating, which is why we initially ventured down the path to do a 'Bowrider' style RIB," says David Pringle, Managing Director of Smuggler Marine.

"Our 780 Super Sport has been a great model for us, a number exported overseas as Superyacht tenders, they're such a versatile boat that can suit a wide variety of users."

The Smuggler 800 SS is fitted with the Anura Electric Over Hydraulic (EOH) amphibious system.

Each EOH amphibious system is equipped with 12.4kWh of batteries, to provide a runtime of between 45 and 60 minutes depending on the operating environment. Driving the hydraulic pump is an 28kW air-cooled electric motor.

When stored, a standard domestic power supply is used to charge the batteries with a charge time of 9-hours.

Step aboard and the layout is your traditional dual console bowrider layout, identical king/queen seats port and starboard. To starboard is the helm console, finished with a carbon fibre look and with plenty of space for all the necessary instruments and controls.

To move forward there is a split in the windscreen that opens to allow access through and you are greeted by a large vee berth seating configuration. The squabs are removable should you want to free up more space for fishing, and there is storage space underneath. There is also provision for an additional bait station should you wish, and rod holders.

When the bow area isn't in use or while under way, there is a clip in cover that covers the bow area, and protects crew from the wind. Wrap around clears clip into the top of the windscreen and connect to the targa hardtop above.

The standard engine option is the Mercury 300hp V8. The Mercury 300hp V8 chosen for its performance, fuel efficiency, but most notably the powerful 115-amp alternator with Idle Charge capabilities for the Anura EOH system.

The 800 SS boasts Smuggler's proven 27-degree deep vee hull that is shared on RIB and amphibious models 7.5 metres and above. Underway with the Mercury 300hp V8 powerplant the 800 SS will do close to 50 knots making it a true blue water performer.
