SailGP, the world's most exciting racing on water, has today announced a major three-season commitment to host the Germany Sail Grand Prix in August, cementing Sassnitz as a returning to the championship's calendar on August 22-23, 2026 and then a further event in Germany August 21-22, 2027. The news follows a sell-out first day for Sassnitz's debut, which saw the Germany SailGP Team, presented by Deutsche Bank, take victory in race one and ROCKWOOL Denmark clock a new speed record of 103.93 km/h.

Germany joins a number of other long-term fixtures on the global racing championship's calendar, reinforcing SailGP's strategy to create a stable and high-impact racing schedule while deepening connections with local communities and fans.

As part of this broader commitment to secure a consistent annual calendar of venues and dates, SailGP has confirmed it will continue to race in Perth, Australia through to 2028, building on strong demand and growing support from fans and stakeholders in Western Australia. In the Americas, SailGP will make its debut in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, with the Enel Rio Sail Grand Prix confirmed as a multi-year stop in 2026 and 2027 — bringing high-speed racing to one of the world's most iconic coastal cities.

Bermuda will continue to feature as a repeat venue on the calendar through to 2028, with May 8-9, 2027 dates now confirmed, while New York City will once again welcome SailGP on May 30-31, 2026 and then June 5-6 in 2027.

After welcoming 20,000 fans to the Emirates Great Britain Sail Grand Prix | Portsmouth last month, SailGP has also confirmed a multi-year commitment to return to Portsmouth 25-26 July 2026 with a further UK event confirmed for 24-25 July 2027. Tickets for next summer's Portsmouth event are expected to be released soon. SailGP has also reaffirmed its commitment to racing in Dubai for 2027, strengthening its foothold in a region that has become a vital part of the league's year-round calendar.

"As we grow SailGP into a truly global sports property, these long-term commitments with key venues are a critical step in delivering a world-class experience year after year," said SailGP CEO, Sir Russell Coutts. "Sassnitz is a perfect example of how a powerful debut can quickly evolve into a long-term legacy — and we're thrilled to make Germany a core part of our championship through 2027."

Coutts continued: "SailGP delivers far more than epic racing — it brings enduring economic and social impact to its host cities. Nine in ten fans at our Portsmouth event were out-of-town visitors, with half of these staying for three nights or more, supporting local hotels, restaurants, and businesses. With consistently high net promoter scores and global broadcast reach into 212 territories globally, SailGP offers incredible visibility and value. Repeat host venues benefit from even deeper legacy opportunities, a more sustained marketing program and long-term community engagement."

As SailGP continues through the second half of its fifth season, the global racing championship is laying the foundations for an even more dynamic and far-reaching future, enabling host cities and partners to build lasting programs around sport, sustainability, tourism, and innovation, with a consistent calendar of iconic locations, and world-class racing at the heart of its evolution.

The most exciting racing on water continues after the Sassnitz event this weekend, returning next month, with the ROCKWOOL France Sail Grand Prix | Saint-Tropez on 12-13 September, closely followed by the first-ever Rolex Switzerland Sail Grand Prix | Geneva on 20-21 September.
