The Derwent Sailing Squadron and Tamar Yacht Club are excited to open entries for the 2025 Harcourts Hobart Launceston to Hobart Yacht Race, a true Tasmanian tradition now in its 19th year.
On 27 December 2025, a diverse fleet of yachts will set sail from Launceston on a 285-nautical mile journey down Tasmania's breathtaking east coast, crossing the finish line in the heart of Hobart.
This year, the race welcomes Harcourts Hobart as naming rights sponsor, a partnership that reflects shared values of community connection, inclusion, and celebrating all that makes Tasmania unique.
"We're proud to be part of such an iconic Tasmanian event," said Rob Henry, Managing Director of Harcourts Hobart. "The Launceston to Hobart reflects Tasmania's beauty, resilience and community spirit, all qualities we're passionate about supporting and championing."
For Commodore Steve Chau of the Derwent Sailing Squadron, the partnership is a perfect fit: "The Harcourts Hobart Launceston to Hobart is more than a race, it's a gathering of people from every corner of the sailing community. Whether you're a seasoned offshore campaigner or a first-time entrant, this event welcomes all who share the love of sailing."
Jointly hosted by the Derwent Sailing Squadron and Tamar Yacht Club, the race has earned its place in the Australian offshore calendar for its tactical challenges, ever-changing conditions, and warm camaraderie, on the water and ashore.
2025 Race Director Ron Bugg says the new sponsorship will help the event continue to grow and welcome more people into the sport: "The support of Harcourts Hobart means we can keep delivering an event that's accessible, competitive, and distinctly Tasmanian. We can't wait to see familiar faces and newcomers join the start line this year."
