The Comet class had their annual visit to Mudeford on Sunday 10th August: 10/10 for Mudeford for the sunshine and breeze that filled in during the day. If you have never sailed in the harbour then you are missing out... it's a stunning place.
Three races were sailed; the Comets had there own start that tagged on to the club's sailing week.
Race 1 saw many different leaders throughout the very tightly packed fleet but on the last beat at the front Ben Palmer used a moored yacht to break the cover from Chris Robinson to snatch a win.
Race 2 saw our class chairman out in front but he decided to go in completely the wrong direction after the first windward mark, of course the fleet shouted to Eddie and called him back but after a slight advantage was gained...
This gave a bit of a lead to Andy Dale who kept in front to claim the win.
After a lunch break back out on the warm water of the harbour for the last and deciding race of the day.
Three players were in with a chance for the open win: Ben Andy and Chris.
At the start by the committee boat Chris squeezed Ben and Andy out who both had to spin round and start late, Eddie had a cracking start and shot off up the first leg.
As the wind filled in there were more opportunities to make and lose ground, Andy and Ben closed the gap on Chris and then to Eddie.
Andy got through to the front and held on for the win to snatch the day ahead of Ben.
Mudeford SC you put on a fantastic days sailing and the Comet class thanks you for that and we will see you again next year.
