Ripe Craftinsure GP14 National Championship 2025 at Tenby Sailing Club - Day 4

Catch up day at the 75th Anniversary National Championship:
- One race today, with a new wind direction, a steady 8-10knots from the southwest, with a long beat against the tide.
- With that the fleet was well behaved and we got away clean on the first attempt.
- Jasper Barnham/ Graham Sexton punched out of the middle of the line with great speed, but the fleet tacked off to the right to escape the tide. The first beat was very congested with most teams working the shifts on the right-hand side of the course.
- Team McGuinness hooked into a right shift at the top of the beat to lead from Barnham /Sexton and Jonny and Will Sinclair.
- Down the first run, Barnham/Sexton slipped inside of the McGuinness' to take the lead, with the other Fergus Barnham and Ellie Devereux sneaking into 3rd, very close behind was the Sinclairs 4th with Russ an Ali Cormack in 5th.
- Up the second beat team McGuinness did a double tackle out of the leeward mark and took advantage of port lift to put them into the driver's seat at the top of the beat. They were closely followed by Barnham/Sexton, with the rest of the fleet following with Barnham/Devereux and the Cormacks had progressed into 4th ahead of the Sinclairs.
- Again, Barnham/Sexton took the lead on the run, with the rest of the fleet holding their positions. John Hayes/Joel James had sailed an impressive beat and run to catch up with the top 5 and they were just behind them by the leeward mark.
- The fleet set off up the final beat, Barnham/Sexton extended to a commanding lead. The Cormacks stormed up the last beat into 3rd to be right behind the McGuinness's
- Down the last run, Barnham/Devereux managed to sneak inside the Cormack's at the gybe mark before the final reach to the finish
- The race would finish Barnham/Sexton in first, the McGuinness' in second and Barnham/Devereux in third.
The crew's race followed, but the Barnham's were on childminding duties and returned to shore along with Hayes/James.
The fleet went out on the town for the night, the race team took advantage of this and relaxed at the club.
Racing on Thursday was canned after AP/2 as the sea state was high and visibility poor.
On Friday the start time had already been bough forwards to 1100, but now there are three races planned.
