26 dinghies and 9 cruisers took part in the Lyme Regis Regatta which was held over weekend 2nd & 3rd August.

Racing was split between the dinghies and cruisers with the dinghies having a 4 race series (General Handicap) and the cruisers having a 3 race series. Both the cruisers and dinghies came together for the 'one off' Championship of the Day race on Sunday afternoon.

Saturday started off in a light north easterly breeze before switching to the predicted SW F3. The inevitable postponement (which was signalled to allow time for the wind to settle and reset the course) provided competitors time to watch the playful dolphin swim between boats and jump out of the water - a joy to watch.

After the racing on Saturday, competitors and club members were treated to a BBQ/social.

Sunday was classic Lyme F2-4 SW with small oscillating shifts coming down through the course.

Within the dinghy general handicap fleet, the Fireballs had the biggest class with 6 boats. The form book was turned upside down with Allan Tyler and veteran crew 'Woody' winning from Graham & Will Cook supported on Sunday by stand in crew Ricky (both in Fireballs) with the Merlin Rocket of Mike & Jane Calvert in 3rd.

Rob & Sharon won the cruiser series in their Parker 235 from Vic Simpson in his Parker 21.

The Championship of the Day was won by the local father and son combo of Cameron and Darrol Moss, with Allan & Woody 2nd and the Calverts 3rd.

The £180 proceeds from the Regatta were presented to the Lyme Regis Regatta Carnival Committee which supports the local community. A brilliant weekend on and off the water!
