St Aubins bay promises to be a splash of colour and full on racing action this weekend when Hobie Cat teams put to the water in the Channel Islands Hobie Cat Championships sponsored by Savills, Jersey for the seventh year running.

Hosted by the Royal Channel Islands Yacht Club this is the 34th year of the event. Around 30 boats with 60 crew are expected to participate in the Hobie flagship event of the year. There is a full weekend of competitive racing with 3 back to back races each day for the Hobie Cat classes which include, Adult and Youth teams on Hobie 16's, the 18ft Hobie Wildcats and Tigers and Juniors racing the 13ft Hobie Dragoons.

Racing starts at 10:00am on Saturday and 11:00am on Sunday. Registration and crew weigh in is on Friday evening from 6:00pm at the RCIYC.

A great addition to this year's event is Australian Darren Smith and his crew Claire Bisgood who achieved third place in the last Hobie 16 Worlds held in Spain in 2022. To have a team of their International standard racing in the Championships is going to be exciting for the crews who will have an opportunity to learn from one of world's top H16 sailors with a training and Q & A session also planned over the weekend.

The forecast is looking good for the event, overall it promises to be an excellent weekend of Championships racing and fun social events for all those taking part.

More information and entry details can be obtained from RCIYC tel 745789 or email
