The regatta held at Ocean Marina, Pattaya, was marked by excellent racing conditions, strong international participation, and (most importantly!) a high level of camaraderie.
• Day 1: With a steady 15-knot breeze, five races were completed. Justin Brownhill (Australia) and his sons made a strong start with a win. However, Peter Farrugia, with tactician Steve McConaghy on Platu 121, soon dominated, winning successive races. A notable mention went to a new Myanmar crew, skippered by Sithu Myint (Platu 117), and local teams led by Nathan Masopust (Platu 122) and Terry Foster (Platu 124).
• Day 2: Conditions remained brisk (15 knots, choppy sea), allowing another five races. Farrugia continued his winning streak, taking all five races. Jason (Easy Tiger) steadily improved, and despite equipment issues, the Myanmar crew maintained strong performances. Platu 114, skippered by Anusorn Nymrit from YRAT, joined the competition, showing promise despite being new to the boat.
• Day 3: The final day saw lighter winds (8-10 knots) and flat seas. Sithu Myint (Myanmar) excelled and finished second overall (28 points). Jason and Easy Tiger placed third (29 points), narrowly trailing after suffering an OCS penalty in one race. Peter Farrugia (Platu 121) achieved a flawless 10 out of 10 wins, clinching the overall victory.
• Overall: The event is to be congratulated on it high level of organization, international talent, and excellent sportsmanship. Special thanks were extended to the international teams from Myanmar, Malaysia, and Australia, the OMJ staff, Race Officer Thammasak Meeyousamsen, and Scott Finsten for supporting the One Design Class.
• Peter Farrugia (Platu 121): 1st overall, perfect score.
• Sithu Myint (Platu 117, Myanmar): 2nd overall.
• Jason/Easy Tiger: 3rd overall.
