Two more Phantom events just completed at Castle Cove and Lee-on-Solent in idyllic conditions, as a precursor to the P&B Phantom National Championships in Plymouth.

Hooe Point SC are finalising their detailed preparations for our nationals between the 19th - 21st September. Whilst the Mount Batten Centre is being refurbished, the full temporary facilities, large marquees, showers and toilets used for the J24 Worlds immediately prior to our Nationals are remaining for the event.

We are also taking over the local pub (2 mins walk from the boat park) for all our social activities and meals so great opportunity to remain local for our apres sailing.

Free campervan/motorhome parking is also available on site, no booking required.

Entries have started to gain momentum with 25 registered already. So if you haven't yet entered make sure you get your entry in at the discounted rate of £150.00 before this ends in a few weeks time.

Entry details, NOR and application form are accessible on the class association website. www.phantomclass.org.uk

Please enter as soon as possible to help Hooe Point SC in the planning of the event. Don't forget you will also need to be a member of the class association if this has slipped your mind ! (Also accessible on the class association website)

The entry fee includes 3 days of great racing (7 races) a Championship dinner, the very popular free pasty and pint after racing on the first two days and a breakfast roll and hot drink to start you off each the day. Daily prizes - Dick of the day, First to the windward mark and tally prizes, and of course all the silverware and glassware for our regular overall categories and race winners.

The Phantom National Championships isn't just about the great racing, it's also our annual get together for the best social of the year and an opportunity to catch up with old sailing friends and making new friends from every region in the country.

If it's your first Nationals you're in for a treat to meet new Phantomers, learn new skills and tips and to experience the true friendly atmosphere of our premier event of the year.

If you are returning to again experience that buzz of big fleet racing across championship courses Hooe Point SC will be delivering an event to remember in the waters of Plymouth Sound and possibly open sea if conditions permit.

This year a few changes are planned to enhance your experience:

  • A Gold and Silver Fleet in addition to the overall standings to create some additional mid-fleet excitement
  • A buddy system to further integrate our fleet and sharing of knowledge (who wouldn't want to be Harry Briddon's buddy!)
  • A Jury Boat and an educational talk by the jury team each day
  • Some great professional photography with still and drone footage
