Day 1 of the World Championship is behind us—and what a day it was! The fleet completed two tricky races in light and shifting breeze: Race 1 in 6-7 knots, followed by Race 2 with a fresher 7-9 knots—just enough to get the hulls whispering above the water.

The opening race kicked off with a strong showing from the mixed crews—Maria Vogiatzopoulou & Stefanos Pappas and Michaela Pavlisova & Marek Pavlis rounded the first mark in the lead, showing impressive light-air skills. But as the wind shifted and the lanes tightened, Nikolaos Mavros & Polykarpos Parianos made their move, capitalizing on a late shift to take the win, followed closely by Michaela & Marek.

Race 2 brought a bit more breeze and even more fireworks. Michaela & Marek and Mavros & Parianos were battling bow to bow throughout the race, exchanging positions as the wind shifted in the 7-9 knot range. In the end, it was Michaela & Marek who sailed ahead to claim their first bullet of the championship, with Mavros & Parianos close behind in second.

After the first day of racing, Michaela Pavlisova & Marek Pavlis are leading the Open Mixed and Youth categories with Nikolaos Mavros & Polykarpos Parianos sitting in second, on equal points.

In the Tornado Class, youth teams are defined as teams where both sailors are under 26 years old, meaning for this year born in 2000 or later.

Back on shore, the Traditional Pita Party awaits the sailors—a perfect end to a full day.
