Topper South West Travellers at Dittisham Sailing Club

by Harry MacLeod 13 Jul 23:06 PDT 6 July 2025

The River Dart hosted by Dittisham Sailing Club hosted the 7th South West Traveller of 2025. The sun was shining, but with gusty, shifty conditions, and a delayed start, race 1 was set off with an extended beat to challenge us all.

Ten 5.3 rigs plus two 4.2 rigs made up a competitive fleet. Race 1 finished with a win for myself, closely followed by Charlie Mackenzie and Edith Philips.

The second race was another closely force race, with us coming in for lunch with all 3 top sailors on equal points. Race 2 was Edith 1st, Charlie 2nd and myself third.

We all came ashore for lunch, to be greeted with some delicious pasta, whilst the regatta fleet continued to race.

After lunch the wind had dropped slightly but the gusts remained challenging, with string tide and a difficult start line.

Race 3 saw Charlie take his first win of the day, followed by Dittisham's Leo in 2nd.

Race 4 however secured Edie Philips the overall win, her first well deserved traveller win. With Charlie closely 2nd.

A huge thank you to all the helpers and volunteers who made the weekend possible.

A really competitive strong racing fleet, with a strong set of results.

Overall Results: (top five)

1st Edith Philips
2nd Charlie Mackenzie
3rd Harry MacLeod
4th Leo Kaneko
5th Brooke Browning

Full results can be found here.

Good luck to all the SW sailors heading to the Worlds and Nationals.
