The crystal waters of the Costa Smeralda once again set the stage for one of the most anticipated events in the international racing calendar: the 2025 Swan One Design Worlds, hosted by Yacht Club Costa Smeralda (YCCS) in collaboration with ClubSwan Racing.
With 35 teams, 30 nations represented and four cutting-edge one-design classes, the event embodies the spirit and growth of the The Nations League.
At the heart of the regatta are 12 ClubSwan 50s, competing for their World Championship title, alongside strong fleets of 7 ClubSwan 42s, 9 ClubSwan 36s, and the fast-emerging ClubSwan 28s, which are holding their first-ever Gold Cup with 7 teams.
"The Swan One Design Worlds are always a highlight - not just for the racing, but for the energy, connection, and camaraderie that define the ClubSwan family - said Luisa Bambozzi, Managing Director of ClubSwan Racing - Porto Cervo offers the perfect setting for the ClubSwan Community to come together, reconnect and welcome new teams into the fold. It's this mix of world-class racing and vibrant shoreside life that makes the Nations League so special".
The regatta officially opened yesterday with the Practice Race and a vibrant Welcome Cocktail on the YCCS terrace. The program includes a rich calendar of social events, from class dinners to the exclusive Owners' Dinner at YCCS, all culminating in Saturday's Prize Giving in Piazza Azzurra.
A key moment of the week came during the Opening Ceremony last night, with the official presentation of the ClubSwan 28 Perpetual Trophy — a beautifully crafted award that will be presented each year to the winners of the ClubSwan 28 Gold Cup, marking a new chapter in the class's evolution.
Among the many stories unfolding in the ClubSwan 28 fleet, two standout entries mark exciting milestones for ClubSwan Racing:
- Numero Blu, skippered by Luca Leopizzi, makes its debut on the international circuit.
- NOX OCEANI, a youth team representing Yacht Club Porto Rotondo and supported by the ClubSwan Academy, features the youngest helmsman in ClubSwan One Design history: 13-year-old Giorgio Nocella, leading a talented crew aged 13 to 23.
The ClubSwan Academy, an initiative by Nautor Swan and ClubSwan Racing in partnership with top yacht clubs, empowers young sailors to engage directly with the top level of competitive racing. Through this platform, emerging talents experience first-hand the values, traditions, and technical excellence of the ClubSwan world.
"The Swan One Design Worlds are not only a stage for world-class racing, but also a testament to the strength and unity of the global ClubSwan community - said Giovanni Pomati, CEO of Nautor Swan - they embody an inspiring fusion of sport, lifestyle, and innovation, reminding us that racing for one's nation goes beyond competition. It is an expression of unity, international spirit, and the shared identity that defines the ClubSwan family. A celebration of community and of a sea that unites us all".
On the racecourse, defending champions Mamao (ClubSwan 36) and Nadir (ClubSwan 42) are back to defend their titles, while the ClubSwan 50 fleet features previous World Champions, Rolex Swan Cup winners, and international sailing legends. Notable names include Leonardo Ferragamo's Cuordileone, Marcus Brennecke's Hatari, Graeme and Raquel Peterson's Moonlight, and Hendrik Brandis' Earlybird.
The event runs through Saturday 21 June, with a maximum of eight races for all classes (ten for the ClubSwan 28s), and strong Mistral conditions forecast for the final days.
