After rigging the boats on Saturday morning we had a briefing from race officer Stuart Walker and then a good lunch was served by the galley team. The weekend looked like being a light wind affair going by the weather forecasts.
However, a breeze blew up on the sunny Saturday afternoon which proved to be gusting between F2 and F4 and varying in direction. Although it was frustrating at times there was some good sailing to be had on a windward-leeward course.
Jonathan Carter took fist place in all three of the afternoon's races while last years champion, Angus, came in second in race 1 and 3 with Mark Henderson taking second place in race 2.
Yorkshire Dales excellent facilities were enjoyed by all with a a cool beer and a relaxing soak in the hot tub. In the evening a superb three course meal was provided by Rachel and the galley team. Afterwards we held our Vortex AGM and chatted over a few more beers.
After a great breakfast on Sunday morning we all took to the water for the final three races. A good constant breeze of 16 mph set in and three fabulous races followed.
These were closely contested and positions within the races changed regularly, Mick Collins leading the race at times although his best result so far had been fourth. However the end result, proved to be similar to yesterday's with everyone finishing in the same positions.
Jonathan Carter of Rickmansworth SC took first place again in all three races, and so with six wins, became the undisputed 2025 National Champion.
Everything including entrance fee, food and drink, plus camping all comes free to Vortex class members. You won't get better value for money than this. So come and join us at next years Vortex Nationals!
