It is quite a privilege to be greeted by a decent wind from a good direction, including sun, at Frensham Pond SC. A small but quality fleet of eleven 2.4mRs had just that for their open meeting held over 31st May and 1st June.

Lovely also to see some familiar faces and even some newer faces of Judith Rigs and Perry Stock who recently joined the fleet. Megan Pascoe and Bruce Hill had just returned sunburnt from a Metre Regatta in Toulon and from the start their competition experience was notable as they were rarely out of the top two positions.

Day one on the Saturday afternoon was frenetic with some very shifty winds and short well set start lines by our very experienced yet calm Dan Shaw, race officer. No pauses or recalls were observed and the racing was very tight with only little gains made usually from others mistakes. Courses across the pond have shorter legs and as a result, a lot of laps requiring all the sail controls (a lot on 2.4mRs) reset on each mark rounding; this can be very challenging.

As some expected Megan Pascoe showed her incredible skills with two straight wins followed by Bruce Hill and Paul Schroeder respectfully.

After a fish and chip supper in the evening on the sunny veranda we were all expecting a clean sweep of firsts from Megan in her new boat, but alas all was not to be because Bruce Hill obviously slept well and concentrated on the Sunday morning giving him two clear first places in races 3 and 4. This resulted in Megan finding yet another gear to win the next two races post lunch (the old generation were obviously tiring at the end!).

So again, another win for Megan, however not all went her way. Second was Bruce Hill followed by Paul Schroeder. A big thank you to all who helped run the event including the GP team and the fabulous catering team led by our very own Natalie.
