The Royal Ocean Racing Club (RORC), in collaboration with Cap-Regatta and supported by Lorient Grand Large, The Yacht Club de France and Jeanneau, is proud to host the 2025 Offshore Double Handed World Championship from 22nd September to 1st October from Cowes, Isle of Wight.
The deadline for Member National Authorities (MNAs) to submit expressions of interest for the 2025 Offshore Double Handed World Championship is 2nd June 2025. If you are a mixed-gender double-handed crew and interested in competing in the World Championships, we encourage you to contact your local MNA asking them to submit an expression of interest for your Country by the deadline. The NoR with all the important information about the event and relevant timelines can be found on www.sailracehq.com
This prestigious World Sailing-recognised event will pitch mixed-gender double-handed teams to compete in a demanding series of offshore races aboard equipment-supplied Sun Fast 30 One Design boats.
Member National Authorities from across the globe have already expressed strong interest in participating. To date, the following countries have submitted provisional entries—some with intentions to send two national teams:
This growing international interest confirms the championship's allure as one of the most exciting disciplines in offshore racing. With only 28 quota spots available, and each nation initially limited to one entry, competition for invitations is already growing. A second team slot may be awarded to MNAs based on overall demand and geographic distribution, as decided by World Sailing's selection panel.
Set in the historic sailing town of Cowes—home to one of the Royal Ocean Racing Club's iconic clubhouses—the championship promises to offer a world-class race format. The regatta may feature qualification races, a repechage, and a final World Championship race. Each crew will race without on-water assistance, showcasing both endurance and tactical precision in offshore conditions.
Beyond the competition, the RORC's legendary hospitality awaits. From welcome receptions and prize-givings at the Cowes clubhouse to the opportunity for teams to train in identical charter boats before the championship.
RORC is committed to growing the mixed double-handed discipline on the world stage and encourages more MNAs to submit expressions of interest before the deadline of 2nd June 2025. Teams not initially selected will be placed on a waiting list, and deposits will be fully refunded if entry is unsuccessful.
