The weather gods blessed us from sunrise to sunset with an evening that couldn't have been better. A soft sunset light illuminated the rugged, warm-blooded rocky hills of Sardinia as owners and teams eagerly arrived at the village of San Pantaleo and streamed into the carefully prepared Giagoni in Piazza Restaurant, exclusively decorated for the Under one Sky Southern Wind dinner.

On this special occasion, Jim Schmicker was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award for his successful career as the naval architect behind a long list of acclaimed Southern Wind yachts. Each of the twelve Southern Wind yachts present received a specially dedicated prize, celebrating the unique way each one embodies the spirit of Southern Wind.

All of this followed a challenging day of sail racing, where the true regatta spirit of every boat emerged along the turquoise waters of the Maddalena Archipelago.

The yachts sailed a 29-mile course, heading north and upwind from Porto Cervo, weaving through the Maddalena Archipelago and leaving the low, elongated shapes of the Monaci and Barettinelli di Fuori rocks to port. They then returned to Porto Cervo through the Maddalena Channel, Tre Monti, and the Biscie Pass.

In the Superyacht Corinthian Spirit Class, the veteran Grande Orazio claimed first place, proving its outstanding performance and racing capabilities. It was followed by a powerful Gelliceaux and Grillo Parlante, one of the revelations of this edition. Liberty earned a well-deserved third place in the Superyacht Class after a brilliant race. In the Rendezvous Class, No Rush and Ammonite battled for the lead until the downwind leg, where No Rush claimed line honours!

The superyachts are now preparing for a downwind start on a 25-mile course heading south toward Mortorio and Soffi islands.

Stay tuned!
