"Where passion meets the sea", that's where you'll find Barcolana. The 2025 edition tagline invites all water sports enthusiasts to gather and introduces major new elements: more territories involved and a wider range of featured sports disciplines, turning the event into a large-scale festival promoting Friuli Venezia Giulia.

  • Course confirmed, registrations open from May 29.
  • The "Barcolana Contest" returns: participants can win a Honda Jazz Elegance e:HEV. Those who complete their registration by July 31 will receive two contest entries.
  • Launch of the "Ticket To Race" program: individuals can join the Barcolana aboard boats provided by SVBG, a format that was highly appreciated in 2024.
  • New calendar highlights: sea, river, and lake events in Trieste, Sistiana, Grado, Aquileia, Lignano Sabbiadoro, Cavazzo Carnico, and along the Isonzo River.
  • Related events: registration also opens today for the Barcolana Solaris Adriatic Cup, Barcolana Grado SUP Experience, and the expanded month-long nationwide Barcolana FUN.
  • Barcolana57 will include two European Championships: Barcolana Parasailing (Hansa 303 class) and Este24.
  • Generali renews its three-year presenting partners; PromoTurismo FVG plays a central role with the "Io sono FVG" campaign.
  • The Murphy&Nye collection unveiled (Jet Black polo with Viva Magenta and Whisper White details).

From the Adriatic Sea to the Isonzo River and Lake Cavazzo, Barcolana57 presented by Generali will host sporting events in Trieste, Duino Aurisina, Grado, the Isonzo between Gorizia and Nova Gorica, Lignano Sabbiadoro, and—new this year—the Carnia region and Lake Cavazzo.

The preview event kicks off on September 5 with Barcolana FUN, now "maxi size", spanning all Italian seas and Slovenia's inland waters with windsurfing boards aiming to break the 100-meter speed record.

Barcolana57 runs across 12 days starting October 1, featuring sports competitions including two European Championships: one for the Paralympic Hansa 303 class and the other for the Este24 class, concluding the 2025 sailing season in Trieste from October 9-11, following last year's successful turnout of over 30 boats.

Barcolana57 also brings opportunities for reflection with the Barcolana Sea Summit on environmental issues and the Women in Sailing project developed with Generali. A rich cultural and entertainment program will lead up to the 57th edition of the world's largest regatta, set to start at 10:30 AM on Sunday, October 12 in Trieste.

"Barcolana's 57th edition," said Mitja Gialuz, President of the Barcola and Grignano Sailing Club, "is an invitation to gather where passion meets the sea—Friuli Venezia Giulia, during the first 12 days of October. From Trieste, we're building a more inclusive event, capable of engaging an ever-wider audience and expressing the many elements of passion: tradition, culture, fun, commitment, competition, participation, and joy. By expanding the geographical and sports boundaries of Barcolana, we offer more people the chance to share this spirit and feel part of a great project centered on sport and community."

The launch of Barcolana57 includes the renewal of the long-standing partnership with Generali, the presenting sponsor for over forty years, not only supporting but also shaping the event. Emma Ursich, Head of Corporate Identity at the Generali Group, stated: "Generali supports a healthy lifestyle through both team and individual sports. That's why we've been partnering with Barcolana for over forty years, promoting national and international projects that raise awareness through concrete initiatives with a positive impact and enrich the territory. We are pleased to renew the three-year partnership that connects us to this event, offering the community of Trieste and the many participants a beautiful and meaningful experience."

Registration open - The traditional bell at the Barcola and Grignano Sailing Club rang on the morning of May 29 to mark the official opening of registrations—not just for the regatta, but also for the Barcolana Solaris Adriatic Cup, Barcolana SUP Grado Experience, and the new format of Barcolana FUN. Ticket reservations also opened for "Ticket to Race", an international program allowing sailing enthusiasts without a boat or crew to buy a spot on one of the SVBG-organized teams. Many initiatives were presented during the press conference, with more details to follow in June, including the unveiling of the official poster by illycaffè.

Focus on the regatta - Barcolana Contest returns - The 57th edition of the Barcolana Autumn Cup, presented by Generali, will take place on Sunday, October 12 at 10:30 AM. The now well-established course is confirmed, along with all the key sporting elements that have defined the event's success and winning formula for sailing and sea enthusiasts.

Thanks to a new partnership with Honda, the Barcolana Contest is back: registered participants will be entered into a draw to win a Honda Jazz Elegance e:HEV. New this year: those who register by July 31 will have double the chances of winning, as their sail number will be entered twice into the draw to be held on the afternoon of October 12. Early registrants from outside the region will also have the chance to reserve a free mooring, subject to availability.

Calendar expansion - Barcolana57 further extends its reach across Friuli Venezia Giulia under the "Io Sono FVG" banner. Following Grado in 2023 and Lignano in 2024, this year's edition confirms these locations and adds Carnia, the Isonzo area, and Aquileia, engaging sailing fans across all specialities: swimming, SUP, kitesurf, windsurf, wingfoil, canoe, kayak, parasailing, model sailboat, dragon boat, and water polo, which returns in a tournament format in front of Scala Reale after last year's debut. An added activity includes a historical river route excursion.

Barcolana, in collaboration with the Triestina della Vela, will host the European Championship for the Hansa 303 class (Barcolana Para Sailing Eurosaf Inclusivity Event), opening the festivities two days early, on October 1.

Over 20 sea and land events are planned in twelve days, with an enhanced Barcolana Village, improved hospitality, and services at Molo Zero in Porto Vecchio. The program continues to evolve through the "Submit Your Event" initiative, allowing local associations to propose non-commercial sea- or land-based events aligned with this year's theme. Submissions are open until July 31, while space reservations for exhibitors in the village's temporary shops close on June 30.

Literary festival and more - Confirmed again is "Barcolana: A Sea of Stories", the seventh edition of the literary festival curated by journalist and writer Alessandro Mezzena Lona, featuring national and international authors. Also appearing is illustrator Davide Besana with a "Save the Children" exhibition and workshops for children. New this year: the "Cavana Run - Barcolana Edition", a sunset fun run through Trieste's streets, open to runners of all ages and levels, embodying the inclusive Barcolana spirit.

Murphy&Nye collection - Unveiled during the press conference and modeled by SVBG athletes, the official Murphy&Nye clothing line for Barcolana will be available in June. The dominant colors are Jet Black, Viva Magenta, and Whisper White, featured in a 100% cotton piqué polo shirt with signature buttons, ribbed collar and sleeves, and embroidered Barcolana logos. The collection includes jackets, vests, sweatshirts, and accessories for men, women, and children. Highlight item: the "Barcolana Bag", gifted to all skippers along with the polo.

Barcolana as a platform for social and environmental awareness - Topics such as water and environmental protection (Barcolana Sea Summit), inclusion, and Women in Sailing by Generali will again take center stage. Returning is the project by American sailor and philanthropist Wendy Schmidt, whose Schmidt Ocean Institute, in partnership with WWF and BioMa, will expand its marine conservation efforts. Prestigious FVG-based shipyard Solaris will host its second regatta and showcase a yacht in Piazza Unità with a new centerpiece layout. ARPA FVG will lead environmental education efforts, and AcegasApsAmga will also promote sustainability themes.

Among new partners: the United World College of Duino Aurisina, whose students from across the globe will participate in the Barcolana Sea Summit and foster environmental and social discussions.

Joining at sea and on land: packages and updates - New Barcolana Experience tourism packages for both B2B and B2C are already available on the Barcolana website.
