Ibiza JoySail 2025 has exceeded all expectations, with twenty-two yachts having already signed up for the fifth edition of this spectacular superyacht race, which will be held from 18 to 21 September at the exclusive Marina Ibiza.

The Ibiza JoySail organising committee, formed by the team of STP Shipyard Palma and Marina Ibiza, opened registrations at the start of the year and in just a few weeks had completed the list of twenty-two yachts, two more than the twenty initially planned, leaving thirteen yachts on the waiting list as of today.

The success of the previous four editions has led many owners and captains to express huge interest in competing in the event. Almost half of the yachts taking part will be debutants, such as Anomaly, Cervo, Ganesha, Haromi, Karibu, Kiboko 4, Magic Blue, Namuun, Savuke, and Spiip.

Repeat contenders will be Ammonite, Aurelius, Jasi, L'Hippocampe, Liberty Squared, Moat, Morgana, Nostromo, Open Season, Shambho, Viento, and Gelliceaux, an SW108 who since her launch in 2023 has sailed more than 12,000 miles, after making a maiden journey of 7,500 miles between Cape Town and Lanzarote, before finally crossing over to the Caribbean.

Newbies this year include yachts of the ilk of Kiboko 4, the latest in the saga. She is a spectacular SW108, named Sailing Yacht of the Year at Boat International's World Superyacht Awards.

Meanwhile, Anomaly is the ex-Ribelle, a 107-foot model designed by Malcolm McKeon and built by Vitters, as is Cervo, which at 128 feet will be the largest yacht in this year's fleet. Another newcomer is the 94-foot Wally Magic Blue, designed by Reichel/Pugh. For her part, Spiip, a 107-foot Baltic, is designed by Mani Frers, in a more modern version of this saga of Argentine designers.

Southern Wind and Nautor's Swan are the shipyards with the largest number of yachts racing in Ibiza JoySail 2025, with six apiece. The Southern Winds are Ammonite, Gelliceaux, Kiboko 4, Liberty Squared, Magic Blue, and Morgana. And the Nautor's Swan are Haromi, Jasi, L'Hippocampe, Moat, Savuke, and Spiip. What's more, there will be two Y-Yachts Y7s (Shambo and Viento), two Vitters (Anomaly and Cervo), two Baltic Yachts (Ganesha and Open Season), one JOM Holland (Aurelius), one Oyster (Karibu), one Turquoise Yachts (Namuun), and one Pendennis (Nostromo).

Moat continues to stand out among the returnees, with this Swan 115 having secured victory in all four previous editions of Ibiza JoySail, so she is again the main rival to beat. Meanwhile, the category of the new Café Racer models, which follow a particular box rule, includes Open Season — a regular in Balearic waters — and Ganesha, who could not compete in the last edition despite being registered. Both Café Racers are expected to lead an intense duel on the race course.

Ibiza JoySail is renowned for its laid-back atmosphere ashore yet high-level racing at sea. Already a benchmark on the Mediterranean superyacht circuit, it is a family & friends event that balances nail-biting races with social and entertainment activities on land.
