GP Watercraft is excited to announce a new partnership with FD Yachts to bring the uniquely versatile training dinghy, the FD Future, to the UK market.
The FD Future is the perfect platform for sailing schools and clubs to introduce youth and adults alike into dinghy sailing. With a single hull design and multiple rig options, she can be sailed as a single- or double-hander and caters for a range of needs: One reefable main is perfect for sailing introductions, level 1 and level 2 courses, while the fully battened 6.8 main gives enough power for adults to hone skills and start getting into racing.
The addition of a jib and spinnaker also allows juniors and youth to start developing transferable skills for them to progress through to other pathway classes.
The FD Future is comfortable and efficient to sail with her deep and safe cockpit with wide sitting areas and front deck. A modern, light-weight hull, means that boat is also very easy to handle on land and can be transported on a car roof. Rigging is straight-forward, making it very efficient for club operations.
Shaun Priestley of GP Watercraft says: "We're excited to start our partnership with FD Yachts and believe the FD Future is truly unique in its versatility, enabling training schools to cater for a wide audience with just one product.
"The FD future is exceptionally affordable and we can offer individual boats or fleet prices in the UK. The boat is fun to sail and offers the perfect platform from learning to sail to developing and honing transferable skills."
Krijn van den Brink of FD Yachts commented: "We are very excited about our partnership with GP Watercraft, the team has really in-depth knowledge of the sailing market in UK. We are very impressed with their passion for the FD Future range of boats and their vision on how and where our boats could add value to the sailing communities in UK.
He continued: "The FD Future range of boats is designed and built with a mission to make sailing easy, accessible and enjoyable for everyone. The basic FD Future model comes with three sails - mainsail, jib and spinnaker. Youth sailors can learn everything about sailing in just one boat! She can be sailed both single and double-handed.
"We have also adjusted the sail area to make it youth/beginner-friendly as well as being enjoyed by the adult sailors. The PE hull is strong, durable and very easy to maintain for the club, especially for coastal sailing clubs."
Demos of the FD Future and FD Future 6.8 will be available through either GP Watercraft or sister company Melges UK.
