All details are available on the 2025 event website.

Set sail from Brighton to Fécamp in one of the UK's most historical offshore yacht races. The thrill of the open sea, the camaraderie of fellow sailors, and the prestige of taking part in a historic event—there's nothing quite like the Royal Escape Race, and the 2025 edition is just 2 weeks away!

Whether you're a seasoned skipper or a first-time crew member, this unforgettable race from Brighton to Fécamp is the perfect way to kick off your sailing season. Hosted by the Sussex Yacht Club, the Royal Escape Race is one of the South Coast's most celebrated yacht races, drawing entries from across the UK and beyond.

Why Take Part in the Royal Escape Race 2025?

  • Challenge Yourself: The 67-nautical mile crossing from the Sussex coast to the picturesque French port of Fécamp offers both excitement and a true test of sailing skills.
  • Make History: The race commemorates King Charles II's escape to France in 1651—sail in his wake and become part of a legacy over 40 years strong.
  • Unmatched Camaraderie: With participants ranging from solo sailors to team crews, it's a brilliant way to connect with the UK sailing community.
  • A Weekend to Remember: Enjoy the celebratory atmosphere at both ends of the race, with shoreside events and warm welcomes from our French hosts.
  • Musto Sponsor Prizes: Successful entries can win prizes from Musto!
  • Yellow Brick Tracker: Every entry in the race will have a tracker to broadcast the race LIVE!
A full programme of events is planned for the Saturday after the race, including the first ever Sailing's Got Talent, cheese/wine tasting, prize-giving and evening disco!
