With 80 years under its belt, Australia's most iconic aluminium boat brand, Quintrex, marks a major milestone - celebrating eight decades of innovation, craftsmanship, and unforgettable adventures on the water.

Founded in 1945 in Sydney by Terry Quantrill, Quintrex began as a bold vision shared by two passionate entrepreneurs. What started as a modest operation has grown into a household name, recognised and trusted by generations of Australian boaties.

"There wouldn't be a boatie in Australia who doesn't know the name Quintrex," said Sam Heyes, General Manager at Telwater. "And that's because for 80 years, we've consistently delivered quality, performance, and innovation that keeps people coming back to the brand."

From the launch of the revolutionary Flared Bow in 1968, to the game-changing Millennium Hull in 2005, followed by the Blade Hull in 2013 and the cutting-edge Apex Hull, Quintrex has never stopped pushing the limits of what's possible on the water.

This year, as the brand celebrates its 80th anniversary, it reflects on its legacy while steering confidently into the future. Quintrex remains committed to its founding philosophy—Boating Made Easy—while continuing to evolve its range with industry-leading technology and design.

"The last eight decades have been about more than just boats," Heyes said. "They've been about building a lifestyle, creating memories, and supporting communities across Australia."

In 1946, Quintrex signed its first dealership agreement with Hunts Marine, a partnership that remains strong to this day. Today, the brand is proudly represented by 60 premium dealers across Australia and exports to over 15 countries, spreading the spirit of Australian boating across the globe.

In 2019, global powersports leader BRP (Bombardier Recreational Products) acquired Telwater, the Australian manufacturer of Quintrex, bringing a new wave of international resources and innovation to the brand. Under BRP's ownership, Quintrex continued to grow, benefiting from expanded R&D capabilities and global marine expertise.

Most recently, in 2025, Yamaha Motor Australia announced it has entered into an agreement to acquire the Telwater business from BRP, marking the beginning of a new and exciting chapter. Backed by Yamaha's marine leadership and legacy of engineering excellence, the future of Quintrex is set to soar even higher.

Quintrex's commitment to research-driven design and Australian manufacturing has earned the brand more than ten Aluminium Boat of the Year awards, making it the trusted choice for seasoned fishers, families, and adventurers alike.

As Quintrex celebrates this significant chapter, the message is clear - the journey is only just beginning.
