Tomorrow in Sorrento, racing begins for the ORC fleet: 30 teams from six nations are already moored in the picturesque Marina Piccola Naples.

Everything is set for the 2025 Tre Golfi Sailing Week, which officially opens on Thursday 8 May with the ORC Mediterranean Championship, the first of three major events on the program. Organized by the Circolo del Remo e della Vela Italia with the support of Rolex Official Timepiece, Loro Piana, and a strong network of institutional and technical partners, the event welcomes 30 yachts to Sorrento's scenic Marina Piccola, which once again hosts both the ORC fleet and the Maxi fleet (set to arrive next week).

The ORC Mediterranean Championship will be held from 8 to 10 May, featuring windward-leeward racing in the waters between Sorrento and Capri. The event is also valid as the National Championship for Central and Southern Italy and serves as a key test regatta ahead of the 2026 ORC World Championship, which will take place on the very same racecourse.

The regatta is organized in collaboration with the Yacht Club Italiano (Genoa), the Reale Yacht Club Canottieri Savoia (Naples), the IMA, ORC, FIV, and UVAI, and supported by North Sails, Wally Yachts, Banca Patrimoni Sella, Ferrarelle, Ottogas, Deloitte, Italia Yachts, Le Axidie, Caffè Borbone, Schenker and Consorzio Prosecco DOC.

"We are thrilled to once again host the ORC Mediterranean Championship and the National Championship for the area," said Maurizio Pavesi, Vice President of CRV Italia and ORC Board Member. "The racing between Sorrento and Capri always offers a highly technical challenge, and this year—so close to the 2026 Worlds—it becomes a vital test for all teams."

A competitive and international fleet

The fleet includes 30 yachts from France, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, the Czech Republic, and the United Kingdom. Among the standout entries are Lisa R, the Ker 46 winner of the 68th Regata dei Tre Golfi in 2023; the brand-new wallyrocket51 Team Django with Vasco Vascotto calling tactics; Mascalzone Latino, the Farr 40 owned by Vincenzo Onorato; and other top teams such as Selene Alifax, Arkas Sailing Team and Musica. Expectations are high for three days of spectacular racing in the crystal-clear waters off the Sorrento Peninsula.

The ORC Mediterranean Champion title will be awarded to the yacht achieving the best score in its class, relative to the number of competitors, including points from the offshore Regata dei Tre Golfi, which is also valid for the overall. The National Championship titles for Central and Southern Italy will go to the class winners, who will also qualify for the ORC Italian Offshore Championship, scheduled for late June in Capo d'Orlando. In addition, the Yacht Club Italiano Cup will be awarded to the club with the highest number of winners in each class.

Notice to sailors

As always, the Regatta Village, located beneath the historic Sorrento clubhouse of CRV Italia, will be the social hub for the sailing community. Each morning, crews will enjoy dockside breakfast courtesy of Caffè Borbone, while every afternoon they'll be welcomed back with a pasta party sponsored by North Sails. On Thursday 8 May, the day will wrap up with a Crew Party and DJ set at 19:30, open to all teams.
