The second day of racing at the Antigua Classic Yacht Regatta continued with perfect 12-15 knot trade easterly trade winds, it really couldn't have been better sailing conditions. Today the whole fleet completed the 20-mile Butterfly course from Cape Shirley down to Rendezvous Bay and two legs out to a mark four miles south called Cupples (named after the regatta's late race officer, Clare Cupples who passed away last November).

Charlie Rousselot, owner of the 50" C&C 1971 sloop Valiant (who has sailed her yacht all the way to the Caribbean from New Zealand), said on her return to the dock today, "Very interesting race, got a chance to get all the sails out. The crew was great, they were dancing together. I still have goosebumps from the starting sequence".

Guillaume Touhadian, captain of Ticonderoga of Greenwich, commented about today's racing "Perfect day, Ti was in perfect form and what a beautiful fleet, absolutely ideal conditions. Ti has a long-standing tradition of coming to Antigua, we've been coming down for decades and its the vibes that keeps us coming back".

Josh Danziger, owner of the oldest boat in our fleet, 1911 Bristol channel pilot cutter Cornubia, enthused about today's racing "Flew the big yankee and jackyard topsail and she really went upwind beautifully. At the starting line, it was amazing, I thought, wow, I'm part of this fleet".

Today's results puts Cacca alla Volpe first in the Modern Classics A class, Bunglebird came first today in Modern Classics B, Petrana first again in Classic GRP class and Freya also in Spirit of Tradition, Arro came first in Traditional class,The Blue Peter won in Vintage class, Charm III first in Schooner class and Rhea was first in Tall Ships. The cumulative results of the two days of racing can be seen by clicking here

Tonight's entertainment will be a short film of Ticonderoga when she came to Antigua in the late 1970s along with a slide show of the competing yachts courtesy of our talented photographers. We look forward to another great day on the water tomorrow at Antigua Classic Yacht Regatta.
