Mail Order | Customer Service Assistant

Bring your customer service skills to the team.

As P&B's Customer Service Advisor your tasks will include a combination of the following tasks:

  • Answering customer enquiries, by phone or email, or passing them on to the appropriate department.
  • Giving information and helping to solve customer problems.
  • Selling products and taking orders by phone and email.
  • Preparing customer orders for postage and collection.
  • Assisting customers with enquiries in store and taking payment.
  • Processing complaints, queries and, if required, issuing refunds.
  • Taking information from customers and entering it accurately into a database.
  • Taking payments by cash, cheque or credit card.

As you'll often be the first point of contact for our customers it's essential for you to create a good impression and make sure their experience is a positive one. You'll need to be polite and approachable, confident and have the ability to remain patient in difficult situations.

Problem-solving skills and having the ability to think quickly, follow instructions, work as a team and work on your own initiative are also very desirable skills.

A knowledge of sailing or a passion for watersports would be a big advantage but your enthusiasm and skill as a customer-facing team member are our number one priority!

Workshop | Boat Repairer | Rigger

Where Craft Meets Championship Performance

P&B is seeking a dedicated Workshop Assistant to join our team in Northampton. As a prominent sailmaker and specialist dinghy chandler with a championship-winning heritage, we're looking for someone who shares our commitment to technical excellence and precision.

The Role

Working full-time in our well-equipped workshop, you'll develop specialised skills in GRP and epoxy work while gaining exposure to all aspects of boat repair and fit-out. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to projects at every level of sailing.

Experience & Qualifications

Previous boat repair experience is valuable but not essential. We're looking for someone with:

  • Attention to Detail: The precision that quality craftsmanship demands
  • Communication Skills: Ability to understand technical requirements and collaborate effectively
  • Initiative & Adaptability: Confidence to prioritise tasks and adapt to changing demands
  • Team Orientation: Willingness to contribute to our community of sailing specialists
  • Physical Capability: Comfortable with the physical demands of workshop activities
  • Customer Focus: Professional interaction with our community of sailors
  • Flexibility: Occasional work outdoors and adaptable hours when needed.
