Lussier claims 2025 Blokart North American Land Sailing Championship

Rhode Islander Dave Lussier (Heavyweight) has been crowned the 2025 overall Blokart North American Champion after a hard-fought 15-race series in California.
Lussier topped 23 other Performance Class sailors from Europe, North America, and Oceania. Right on his heels in 2nd place was New Zealander John Petch (Mid-weight), and in 3rd overall was 18-year-old Aiden Schmeidlin (Lightweight) from Wisconsin.
Conditions were stellar, with winds ranging from 10-30 mph during the series, greatly testing the sailors on the rocket fast windward-leeward courses.
In the Production classes, Randy Gallman triumphed over Tom Irby and Larry Navarro in the Heavyweight fleet, while Michele Dunn was crowned Lightweight champion.
Blokarts are an extremely fast and efficient land sailing class that regularly race at speeds and angles similar to Americas Cup and SailGP foiling yachts. Unlike other land sailing classes, the Blokart uses a two-minute dial-up sequence that provides action-packed starts and fair racing.
It's a rapidly growing class in North America with a bright future, considering its affordable and portable construction. A full-up racing Blokart costs less than USD 4000 and can be easily checked as baggage on major airlines.
