by GL52 Series 11 Apr 08:06 PDT April 10-13, 2025

The first three races of the GL52 Southern Showdown at Pensacola, FL were sailed in epic conditions, 14-21 knots in flat water saw Peter Askew's WIZARD win the first and third races, claiming the top spot on the leaderboard with 4.0 points.

In a race 3 photo-finish, WIZARD edged out Victor Wild's FOX who took second in the race and overall for the day with 7.0 points. Doug DeVos' WINDQUEST is in 3rd place with a total of 9.0 points; and pushing the fleet hard are David Team's VESPER 52 and John Huhn's KATANA in 4th and 5th places respectively with 13.0 and 15.0 points.

Andrew Berdon's SUMMER STORM joined the GL52 fleet on the race course for the first time today, scoring a solid 3rd place in the first race, unfortunately due to a mechanical breakdown they were complete race 2 or start race 3. They will be back for Day 2.
