2025 Chile World Cup - Masters Overall

by International Windsurfing Tour 3 Apr 21:45 NZDT 24 March - 6 April 2025

The Masters division lit up the lineup today at the 5 Star World Cup, as four legends of wave riding battled it out in a fiercely contested final under the Chilean sun at the legendary Topocalma.

Peter Kenyon, from Geraldton, Western Australia, claimed top honors in the Masters final with a commanding score of 11.50, securing victory by 1.4 points over Arnaud Frennet of Belgium, a long-time Chile local and the 2023 Masters World Champion. Kenyon's highest scoring ride featured an impressive big aerial that brought cheers from the beach and sealed his win. His powerful turns and smart wave selection made the difference when it counted most.

Frennet, always a crowd favorite in Chile, showed all his class and composure throughout the event, surfing with precision and local flair to finish runner-up. In the other semifinal, Cristobal Zegers wowed the crowd with a strong 12.16 to win Heat 1 ahead of Kenyon, Michael Viscovich, and Charlie Rovira, who came into the event as the #1 ranked Master in the World Rolling Rankings.

Felipe Wedeles, the Chilean legend known as "The Sherif," advanced to the final with a tight second-place finish behind Frennet in Heat 2, while Zegers also advanced from Heat 1. In the end, Kenyon took control of the final, with Wedeles finishing 3rd and Zegers rounding out the top four.

Michael Viscovich and Michael Friedl, the 2024 Masters World Champion, each placed 3rd in their respective semifinals, earning a well-deserved equal 5th place finish overall. Charlie Rovira, despite entering the event as the top seed, and Friedl both placed 4th in their semis, concluding the event with a shared 7th place ranking.
