2025 GL52 Pensacola Cup Day 3

by GL52 Series 23 Mar 07:44 PDT March 20-23, 2025

On the third day of racing (3/22/25) at the innaugural GL52 Pensacola Cup, the fleet was on the scent of Victor Wild's leader-board topping FOX where three races were sailed in 9-12 knots of wind.

In the first race (7th of the series), David Team's VESPER 52 decisively lead the pack to finish more than 1 minute (on both elapsed and corrected time) ahead of Peter Askew's WIZARD in second place.

VESPER 52's momentum continued as they racked up a second win on the day, this time FOX finished in second place. In the third race (9th of the series), Peter Askew's WIZARD squeezed out VESPER 52 by 14 seconds denying Team's boat a daily hat-trick; third, fourth and fifth place finishers were just 3 seconds apart.

Collectively the fleet heaped 11 points onto FOX's low score lead. Spectacular conditions and tight racing have been the hallmark of the first Pensacola Cup regatta where all podium positions are still up for grabs on the fourth and final day of racing today (Sunday, 3/23).

Below, and in the gallery above, are just a few snapshots of the action.
