World Sailing sends its warmest congratulations to new IOC President Kirsty Coventry.
Ms Coventry was elected following today's vote in the 144th IOC Session in Costa Navarino, Greece, and will assume office from current IOC President Thomas Bach later this year.
Quanhai Li, World Sailing President, said: "On behalf of World Sailing, I warmly congratulate Kirsty Coventry on her election as IOC President.
"The Olympic Games is a sporting event with a peerless history and we firmly believe its best days are still to come. World Sailing is committed to strengthening our contribution to the Olympic Movement through our Olympic Vision and I look forward to working closely with Kirsty to fulfil this commitment.
"This is also a time to recognise the exceptional achievements of current IOC President Thomas Bach. Sport owes President Bach a great deal and, on behalf of sailing, I thank him for his leadership."
