Mallorca Sailing Center Regatta: A great dress rehearsal on the Bay of Palma

The Mallorca Sailing Center Regatta turned the Bay of Palma into an Olympic sailing arena stadium over this past weekend during which the champions of the Spanish Cup in ILCA 6, 49er and 49er FX classes were decided.
The 2025 edition of the Mallorca Sailing Center Regatta concluded after three days of varied conditions that allowed racing in the five participating categories: 470 Mixed, 49er, 49er FX, ILCA 6 and ILCA 7. The Nacra 17 did not muster the minimum number of participants to run a regatta.
Five absolute champions
Spain's Jordi Xammar and Marta Cardona were crowned champions of the Mallorca Sailing Center Regatta in the 470 Mixed class. The local sailors of the Club Nàutic S'Arenal achieved the best aggregate over the four races sailed, winning by four points over the Italians Giacomo Ferrari and Alessandra Dubbini, and by seven points ahead of the British Martin Wrigley and Bettine Harris.
In 49er overall victory went to the Austrians Keanu Prettner and Jakob Flachberger after five races. In their case, they achieved an advantage of two points over the French Erwan Fischer and Clément Péquin, the 2024 world champions, and three points over the Danish Frederick Rask and Jakob Precht.
In 49er FX the best were the Danish sisters Johanne and Andrea Schmidt who finished four points ahead of the British duo Freya Black and Saskia Tidey, and eight ahead of the Polish Gabriela Czapska and Hanna Rajchert.
In ILCA 7, the Mallorca Sailing Center Regatta title went to Irishman Finn Lynch (tenth at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games), followed by Croatian Filip Jurisic and Hungarian Jonatan Vadnai (fourth at Paris 2024). The best Spaniard finish was Gonzalo Suárez, from the Náutico Altea club, who finished sixth overall in a fleet of more than fifty boats.
In ILCA 6, the strongest at this edition, the Italian Chiara Benini was the best among the 185 participating teams. Benini, fifth in Paris 2025, showed her magnificent performance in the qualification series with two partial victories out of a possible four, and she finished the final race to close her participation with a five-point lead over her closest challenger, Tim Lubat from Spain. Third was also Italian Emma Mattivi.
Spanish Cup 2025
The Mallorca Sailing Center Regatta scored as Copa de España (Spanish Cup) 2025 for ILCA 6, 49er and 49er FX classes.
In ILCA 6, the Copa de España went to Tim Lubat in the men's fleet after a magnificent performance that allowed the sailor from the Real Club Náutico de Palma to finish second overall in the class, with an accumulated 16 points in the seven races sailed. In the women's fleet, the victory went to Isabel Hernández, from the Real Club Náutico de Santander, eighth overall. The Copa de España in the U21 division went to Adriana Castro from Alicante, in the U19 male division to Tim Lubat and in the U19 female division to Irene de Tomás from Valencia.
The 49er Copa de España champions were the brothers Martín and Jaime Wizner, from the Real Club Náutico de Vigo. The Galicians finished ninth overall among a fleet of 51 teams.
In 49er FX, the Copa de España went to the duo formed by Alicia Fras and Elena Barrio, seventeenth among a total fleet of 26 teams.

Next stop, the Sofia
With the Mallorca Sailing Center Regatta completed, the teams are finalizing preparations to compete for the 54th edition of the Trofeo Princesa Sofía Mallorca by FERGUS Hotels, to be held from March 28th to April 5th in the Bay of Palma. The first Saling Grand Slam 2025 event is open to the ten disciplines of the current Olympic cycle.

Princesa Sofia Mallorca by FERGUS Hotels is jointly organized by the Club Nàutic S'Arenal, the Club Marítimo San Antonio de la Playa, the Real Club Náutico de Palma, the Real Federación Española de Vela and the Federación Balear de Vela, with the support of World Sailing.
