From today until next Sunday the Mallorca Sailing Center Regatta musters more than 360 boats of 27 nationalities on the Bay of Palma. The event will serve as the 2025 ILCA 6, 49er and 49er FX Copa de España (Spanish Cup), and as a real dress rehearsal for the 54th Trofeo Princesa Sofia Mallorca by FERGUS Hotels, which starts on the 28th March.

The Mallorca Sailing Center Regatta (MSCR) convenes the participants of six of the ten Olympic classes that will compete in the 54 Trofeo Princesa Sofia Mallorca by FERGUS Hotels. More than 360 boats of 27 nationalities will compete this weekend distributed in 470 Mixed, 49er, 49er FX, ILCA 6, ILCA 7 and Nacra 17 categories.

"The regatta has become a tradition for the teams that come to Mallorca to compete at the Sofia and advance in their Olympic preparation," explains Javier Zaynoun, manager of the Club Marítimo San Antonio de la Playa, co-organizer of the event with Club Nàutic S'Arenal. "Many sailors and several federations take advantage of the event to test equipment, measure themselves against their rivals and add hours of sailing in the bay of Palma".

Spanish Cup

The Mallorca Sailing Center Regatta will serve in this edition as the Copa de España 2025 (Spanish Cup) for the ILCA 6, 49er and 49er FX disciplines.

With 188 boats registered, ILCA 6 is the most crowded category this year. Among the more than 160 participants with Spanish flag will not miss the current ILCA 6 Spanish champion, Lara Himmes, and the champions of the Copa de España 2024, Adriana Castro and Leo Griñán. Their competition program will consist of a qualifying series on the first two days and a final series on Sunday that will define the identity of the champion of the Copa de España 2025.

The 49er class will also bring together an imposing fleet of 53 teams of 17 nationalities, including the Spanish duos formed by Pol Marsans and Pablo Llorens; Albert Torres and Elías Aretz; Conrad Konitzer and Antonio Torrado; the Martín brothers and Jaime Wizner; and Ian Clive Walker and Juan Ilya Marcos. Among them will compete for the title of champion of the Copa de España 2025. In 49er FX 26 teams from 12 countries will compete, with the presence of the Spanish Stella Maris Enríquez/María del Mar Gil, and Alicia Fras/Elena Barrio.

The Mallorca Sailing Center Regatta takes place from Friday, March 14, until Sunday, March 16, in three regatta courses set up in front of Playa de Palma.
