The Paolo Vitelli Foundation gives new life to the historic 'Asilo Picco' in Avigliana

by Azimut Benetti Group 12 Mar 02:15 PDT

Azimut|Benetti Group is pleased to announce that the Paolo Vitelli Foundation, founded by Giovanna Vitelli to fulfill her father Paolo's wish, has launched the project for the renovation of the historic 'Asilo Picco.' On Tuesday, March 11, in Avigliana (Turin), the foundation stone was laid to mark the beginning of the work.

The project, strongly supported by the Paolo Vitelli Foundation and carried out in close collaboration with the School and the Municipality of Avigliana, will transform the nursery into a modern Educational Center for children from 3 months to 6 years.

The oldest nursery school in the Avigliana area, a pillar for the growth and education of the youngest local children since 1871, was at risk of closing until a few weeks ago due to the decrease in enrollments and the need for major renovation work.

Today, the Paolo Vitelli Foundation has committed to financing the redevelopment and the launch of a renewed educational project, so the Picco school finds new life and resumes full functionality as an Educational Center designed for the children of the Avigliana community and the children of Azimut Yachts employees, the company founded by Paolo Vitelli, which has been deeply rooted in the Avigliana area for over thirty years, where it has its headquarters and one of its main production sites.

The relaunch of the Picco School includes the complete renovation of the interiors, the renewal of the furnishings and the restyling of the charming garden, which overlooks the ancient Avigliana Castle. An educational garden will allow children to get closer to nature and learn to care for the ecosystem through the practical experience of growing and caring for plants. An initiative of great social value for the community that will thus be able to count on a renewed place of education and growth for the little ones, the project includes the adoption of the most modern pedagogical practices. Every space is designed to stimulate and accompany the development of children in a safe and welcoming environment, where learning is intertwined with play and exploration.

Registrations are already open and, with completion scheduled for the summer, the new Picco School will be ready to welcome children starting from September 2025, becoming an important reference point for the education and growth of future generations in the area.
