Mersea Week in its entirety is organised and run completely by volunteers, and this year, 2025 promises, as always, to be a truly fantastic event.

We are very fortunate to have the continued support of both West Mersea Yacht Club and the Dabchicks Sailing Club, with wonderful waterfront venues here on Mersea Island in Essex from which to organise and host the sailing and social events.

We are eternally grateful for the involvement and generosity of our sponsors, Adnams, Fenn Wright, Dolphin Sails, Oakheart, OneSails, Fiducia, Mersea Homes, LoftZone, Marinestore, Allens & City & Country. Without them, we would simply not be able to plan such an exceptional week.

Last year, we had an entry of nearly 150 boats of every description. With a wide range of competitors of various ages, there was certainly something for everyone. We are hoping for fair weather and, of course, fair winds, but all our races will be adjusted accordingly.

This year, we begin on Saturday 9th August, with an evening reception and welcome party for all competitors. Every evening will feature entertainment, culminating on Friday the 15th with the final prize-giving, fantastic sponsor prizes, a brilliant band, and a barbecue.

If you are still on Mersea Island on Saturday 16th August, you can experience island life at its best, with the Town Regatta taking place. This event concludes with a spectacular firework display - what is there not to like?

There are races for all classes of sailboats:

  • IRC
  • Sonata ODs
  • Local Handicap Cruisers
  • Classic Yachts & Gaffers
  • White Sail Cruisers
  • Dinghies
  • Open Boats
  • Smacks

Come and join us for:

  • Daily and Weekly Prizegiving with Commemorative Glassware and additional Sponsor Prizes
  • Shoreside Activities
  • Accommodation Available on Land
  • Entertainment
  • Great Company

We offer free moorings, a free launch service and a warm welcome to visiting yachting folk. Remember, the best sail of your life awaits you in the beautiful Blackwater!

Online Entries open on the 7th April via merseaweek.org
