The Olympic classes' regatta and the Mallorcan company in the hotel sector sign a five-year collaboration agreement. The 54th edition of the Trofeo Princesa Sofía Mallorca by FERGUS Hotels will bring together the best Olympic sailing specialists on the Bay of Palma from March 28 to April 5.

FERGUS Group joins as the new main sponsor of the Trofeo Princesa Sofía Mallorca, the regatta that every year turns the Bay of Palma into the world center of Olympic sailing. The hotel company founded by Mallorcan Pep Cañellas, official sponsor of the ATP 250 Mallorca Championships tennis tournament since 2022, reaffirms its commitment to promoting top-level sport on the island.

"It is an honor for us to support the next editions of the Princess Sofia Trophy, an event of international prestige that extols the value of our island and, in particular, of the Bay of Palma area, an important area for us," explains Pep Cañellas, founder and president of FERGUS Group. With five hotels in the area, the group's commitment is contributing to the transformation and diversification of tourism of this popular destination.

"We share the sailors same spirit of self-improvement and the values of perseverance and effort, as well as their passion for the sea, a natural asset that we admire and respect for all that it brings us," Cañellas continues.

Jaime Carbonell, head of institutional relations of the Trofeo Princesa Sofia Mallorca, values the agreement very positively: "We are proud to welcome FERGUS Group, a Mallorcan company, like the Sofia, with whom we also share values and a common vision about the capacity of sport to promote Mallorca as a reference to host international events, to deseasonalize tourism and to diversify the origin of our visitors. In the last edition, more than 1,200 athletes of 66 nationalities participated, which undoubtedly contribute to spread the image of Mallorca in their countries".

Five editions

The agreement signed between FERGUS Group and the organizers of the event will last for a minimum of five editions. All Sofia staff and guests will stay in hotels belonging to the Mallorcan group, which will host the official presentation and other institutional events related to the event.

"This agreement gives us stability, consolidates the image of the event and ensures that we can continue to improve the service we provide to participants. We look forward to continuing to grow together with FERGUS Group on our common path towards excellence," concludes Carbonell. The regatta will be called Trofeo Princesa Sofia Mallorca by FERGUS Hotels at least until the 58th edition, to be held in spring 2029.
