The International Wing Sports Association (IWSA) is thrilled to announce the 2025 WingFoil Racing World Cup Morocco, set to take place in the stunning coastal city of Dakhla, from March 19 to March 23, 2025.

This prestigious event marks the first stop of the 2025 season, with subsequent events planned in Switzerland, Turkey, China, and Brazil. The WingFoil Racing World Cup is renowned for its extraordinary display of skill, speed, and strategy, attracting top athletes from around the world.

  • Dates: March 19-23, 2025
  • Location: Dakhla, Morocco
  • Prize Money: €15,000
  • Points: 300 WR Points

The event will be held at the New Spirit Dakhla, located at the iconic Dakhla lagoon on the Atlantic Ocean, at the southwest corner of Morocco. Known for its steady strong wind and flat water, this venue offers ideal conditions for wingfoil racing.

The local organizer, Soufiane Hamaini, is no stranger to high-level competition. Considered one of the greatest international kiteboarders, Hamaini is the first athlete from the Arab world to have participated in a kiteboarding world championship (2000) and to have won a world title. He is a founding member of the Moroccan Kite Surf Association, which also caters to wingfoiling in this progressive African nation.

The 2025 season is set to be an exciting one, with athletes expected to showcase equipment developments from the winter and progress since the last event in Brazil in early December 2024.

Three-times world champion Mathis Ghio from France dominated the start of the 2024 season but by the end of the year, Poland's Kamil Manowiecki came close to snatching the Frenchman's throne. Will this be Manowiecki's year? Or will Ghio step up his game? Will we see a different talent emerge? Fransesco Cappuzzo, Nicolo Spanu, Ale Tomasi from Italy, and Oscar Leclair from France all had their moments in the 2024 season. Additionally, a multitude of new faces have entered, and it will be interesting to see how they perform in this new discipline.

Bringing the opening event of the 2025 series to Dakhla is much more than just an event. Morocco is a progressive, open-minded country that embraces diversity and innovation. The WingFoil Racing World Cup serves as a vehicle to showcase Morocco to the world, drive sustainability and environmental awareness within the country, and promote inclusivity and sports awareness among the Moroccan population.

Spectators are welcome to join the excitement and witness the high-octane action up close. New Dakhla Spirit is a renowned spot for water sports enthusiasts. With its breathtaking scenery and vibrant atmosphere, Dakhla offers the perfect backdrop for this world-class competition.

"We are excited to bring the WingFoil Racing World Cup to Dakhla, Morocco, for the first time. The unique conditions here will provide an incredible challenge for our athletes and an unforgettable experience for spectators," said Mirco Babini, IWSA president, while event host Soufiane Hamaini added: "We are honoured to host the opening event of the 2025 WingFoil Racing World Cup Series in Dakhla. This event not only highlights the incredible potential of our unique location but also aligns with our vision of promoting sustainability, inclusivity, and sports awareness within Morocco. We look forward to welcoming athletes and spectators to experience the vibrant culture and natural beauty of Dakhla".

The 2025 WingFoil Racing World Cup will receive extensive media coverage, with live broadcasts, social media updates, and in-depth reports from leading sports journalists.
