Magic Marine sponsor 2025 Schools Sailing Championships at Itchenor Sailing Club

by Simon Lovesey 9 Mar 04:40 PDT 22-24 & 25-27 June 2025

The prestigious Magic Marine National Schools Sailing Championships will be hosted by the historic Itchenor Sailing Club in June 2025, continuing a proud tradition that dates back to 1953. This highly anticipated event will bring together many of the UK's top young sailing talents, competing in RS Feva and Firefly dinghies.

The Championships have long been a proving ground for future sailing legends. The first-ever winner, James Grogono (Oundle School), became a pioneer in foiling sailboats. Other notable past champions include Rodney Pattisson (Pangbourne School), a two-time Olympic gold medallist and silver medallist, and Ian Walker (Sevenoaks School), a two-time Olympic silver medallist and winner of the Volvo Ocean Race.

This year's competition is expected to see around 400 students take to the waters, vying for the prestigious titles in two classes:

  • RS Feva Championships: Sunday 22nd - Tuesday 24th June 2025
  • Firefly Championships: Wednesday 25th - Friday 27th June 2025

"We're thrilled to partner with Magic Marine and Itchenor Sailing Club for the 2025 National School Sailing Championships," said Ed Sibson, Commodore British Schools Dinghy Racing Association. "This event is an incredible opportunity for young sailors to compete at the highest level and follow in the footsteps of many who have made a lasting impact on the sport of sailing."

The event, proudly sponsored by Magic Marine, promises exciting and competitive racing, reinforcing its reputation as the premier school sailing championship in the UK.

George Kingsnorth, UK MD Magic Marine, went on to say, "Magic Marine kit is relied on by many of the world's top sailors, and we are proud to help the next generation at the 2025 National School Sailing Championships."

The Magic Marine partnership was launched at the recent RYA Dinghy & Watersports Show 2025, with the entry for the 2025 Magic Marine National School Sailing Championships opening on 19th March.
