With registrations recently opened, Tre Golfi Sailing Week 2025 already has a large, growing entry list, both in terms of the number of participants and their quality.

Organised by Circolo del Remo e della Vela Italia, with the invaluable support of the Reale Yacht Club Canottieri Savoia - long-term collaborators in ensuring the event's success - along with Rolex as Official Timepiece and Loro Piana as the main sponsor, the regatta continues to attract world-class crews and yachts from across the globe. Three months out from the event, and with registration open until 31 March, 70 boats have already signed up.

With a unique mix of offshore racing, in the historic 70th edition of the Regata dei Tre Golfi, and inshore and coastal races on the Gulf of Naples, participants are guaranteed the highest quality competition in a magnificent setting. The event is further enhanced by the legendary Neapolitan hospitality, including social gatherings that range from the traditional spaghetti dinner at the CRV Italia clubhouse in collaboration with RYCC Savoia before the Regata dei Tre Golfi start, to the exclusive crew party with Michelin-starred chefs on the Sorrento Peninsula.

The Program: ORC, Maxi and the Multihull debut

The event kicks off in Sorrento with the ORC Mediterranean Championship (7-10 May), followed by the 70th Regata dei Tre Golfi offshore race (starting on 16 May from Naples) and then the International Maxi Association's Maxi European Championship, which will comprise the offshore race followed by four days of inshore and coastal racing on the Gulf of Naples and around Capri over 19-22 May, based out of Sorrento.

This year's major innovation is the introduction of maxi multihulls in the IMA Tre Golfi Multihull Trophy. The catamarans racing in this will be moored at Vico Equense Marina close to Sorrento. Their competition will follow that of the IMA Maxi Europeans, including the offshore race and four days of inshore/coastal racing.

High-level competition

The event promises to be more competitive than ever, with the Sorrento Marina already fully booked for the Maxi fleet. Roberto Mottola di Amato, President of Circolo del Remo e della Vela Italia, commented: "We are grateful to the many owners who, year after year, confirm their appreciation for our regatta by returning. We regret we cannot accommodate any further Maxi entries in Sorrento, although alternative berths are available in nearby marinas."

The Regata dei Tre Golfi race record, set in 2023 by Sir Peter Ogden's 77ft Jethou, of 15 hours 30 minutes, may be under serious threat, with over 16 Maxi yachts exceeding 75ft in length entered, including some of the fastest in the world, all vying for the title.

Among the standout contenders are the brand-new Magic Carpet E of Sir Lindsay Owen-Jones, the Wally 100s Galateia, V, and Tilakkhana, as well as the 93ft Bullitt, owned by YCCS Commodore Andrea Recordati, recent victor in the RORC Nelson's Cup Maxi Series in Antigua. Also worth watching is Scallywag, a regular line honours contender in the Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race, one of the world's most hardcore offshore races.

In the newly rebranded Maxi Grand Prix Class (formerly Maxi 72/Maxi 2), the event is set for a thrilling contest among champions like North Star, Bella Mente, Jolt, Proteus, and Jethou. The 80 footers My Song of Pier Luigi Loro Piana and Capricorno of Alessandro Del Bono will complete the grand prix maxi line-up along in addition to the many competitive maxi racer-cruisers taking part.

The ORC fleet will use their participation as preparation for the 2026 ORC World Championship, set to take place in these same waters, the line-up including the wallyrocket 51 - a brand new, uncompromised grand prix racing yacht.

Prestigious trophies and partners

The coveted Rolex timepiece will be awarded to the overall winner of the IMA Maxi European Championship, while Loro Piana will present the Class 1 Maxi winner's trophy. The event is also supported by North Sails, Banca Patrimoni Sella, Ferrarelle, Deloitte, and Le Axidie, which will host the exclusive Michelin-starred crew party.

As every year, a special thanks goes to the Municipality of Sorrento and Mayor Massimo Coppola for their continued support of the event, which places the Gulf of Naples and the Sorrento Peninsula at the heart of the international sailing scene.
