Noted marine artist Rick Youmans will be showing his latest work entitled "3-Pete" on the Sail-World NZ stand (207 - second level of the VEC) at the Auckland Boat Show, which starts this Thursday.

The original is currently for sale at an undisclosed price, and may also be available as a fine art print.

The 150cm x 100cm work "3-Pete" commemorates the three wins by Emirates Team New Zealand, skippered by Pete Burling, in the 2017, 2021 and 2024 America's Cups.

It depicts the three winning boats sailing against the respective skykines of Bermuda, Auckland and Barcelona.

"The painting depicts the evolution of Emirates Team New Zealand's sailing journey. It tells a story of teamwork, innovation, and exceptional leadership, with Peter Burling at the helm," says Rick Youmans.

"My goal was to capture the three design evolutions sailing in their respective race environments: Barcelona 2024, Auckland 2021, and Bermuda 2017. Simultaneously, I aimed to create the illusion that they are racing in the same body of water, using subtle blends of color and texture to represent the changing conditions."

"It was essential to strike a delicate balance, highlighting the nuanced changes in crew positioning and sailing methods. Taihoro is depicted prominently, advancing from the left of the composition, representing the team's ongoing forward momentum."

This unique work is for sale, and can be viewed on stand 207 on the second level in the Viaduct Events Centre. Artist Rick Youmans will be on the stand to discuss the work and other commissions. International enquiries welcome.
