The Spicare Omaezaki Japan Cup - Overall

by International Windsurfing Tour 22 Feb 19:11 PST 18-24 February 2025

Brazilian 4 x World Champion Marcilio Browne dominated the Men's Final to take the crown in Japan on finals day with flawless double forward loops and a dazzling display of radical riding. Despite being up against 2 x Aloha Champion Antoine Martin and Japan's number one champion, young Takara Ishii, the reigning world champion took the early lead and never looked back.

A dominant performance left the right battle for second between the French veteran and the local young Japanese hero. These two exchanged the 'lead' several times during the extended special 30 minute final, but in the end 15 year tour veteran Martin claimed the silver with Takara having to settle for bronze.

Young Takara put up one hell of a fight in front of his home crowd. In one radical double forward attempt he crashed badly and emerged with a smashed front tooth. He didn't let that slow him down as he poured out his energy striving to win with everything he had. Putting his body on the line for national pride he left nothing on the water and can hold his head high. Proud that as the hero of Japan he pushed his limits to the max for national pride. The home town Omaezaki crowd loved it. And his parents drove him straight to the dentist after the awards ceremony!
